But each time I tweaked my build until I passed the storm without incident, then the rest was easy. Ultramarathon Extreme: This is all about the early build, I probably had 6-7 proper attempts where the first storm destroyed me. I did spend a lot of time trying to make a no-Canning run work, and I did spend a lot of time trying to figure it out for myself, surrounded by note paper (I probably could have just followed a Youtube video). The time I beat it, Canning spawned so close I didn't even have starving people. There were so many games that everything went perfectly, but either Canning didn't spawn, or it spawned too far away. Your people need food desperately and the Canning Workshop has food, but is a random spawn. Partly because it's all about perfecting the early build and partly because of RNG. Refugees Survivor: I literally spent a whole week working on this. There's two tricks to it: the temperature starts at -40, so don't gather outside Steam Hubs and, disable every tent that's rated Cold - you'll have 300+ homeless people but it's warmer around the generator. The Fall of Winterhome Survivor: I managed to do this one first attempt (not counting several day 1 restarts as I optimised my build). The Arks Survivor: This is the first Survivor I completed, and I (mostly) followed a guide I found over at TrueAchievements. Essentially, just play the game the way it's meant to be played. You can also turn on autosave, although I found it to be more of a curse than a blessing, overwriting my saves at the worst time.Ī New Home Survivor: I completed this one last, so didn't need a guide. Firstly, choosing Save & Exit will create a save file, this file won't be deleted if you fail (just go to the Load Game menu), so if things are going well you can create a "checkpoint" save. The trophy for completing A New Home without any deaths is more about not picking certain buildings that have scripted deaths (House of Healing) and not using Emergency Shifts (overwork deaths), and is easy once you know how the game works. All the non-difficulty specific trophies can be gained on easy. Initially, the game forces you to play on Medium Difficulty, but once you reach day 20 the Scenario menu unlocks, then you can customize your playthough, i.e. The rest of the game I'd rate between 3-5 in difficulty (assuming you're a fan of strategy games). I've rated it a 9, purely for one trophy (Refugees Survivor).
